A three-man delegation from Eagle FM recently paid a courtesy visit to Hallmark University in an effort to strengthen community ties and foster collaboration between the institution and the media. The team comprised the station’s head, Mr. Olakunle Balogun, as well as Miss Ebunoluwa Oguntimeyin and Miss Islamiat Sulaimon, who serve as the Head of Marketing and Assistant Head of Sales, respectively. The visit took place on Thursday, October 19, 2023, and was met with enthusiasm from both the radio station team and the university community.
Upon receiving them at the University Senate Chamber, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Segun Odunola, expressed his delight in hosting the radio station representatives on the university campus. He emphasised the importance of media in shaping society and pledged his support to encourage students to explore career opportunities in broadcasting. Prof. Odunola also encouraged the management of Eagle FM not to relent in their efforts despite the challenges that the station may encounter as a young enterprise. The radio station team, led by the Head of the Station, expressed their appreciation for the warm reception and highlighted the station’s commitment to being a valuable information source for the local community. As part of the visit, the team interacted with some of the students in the Department of Mass Communications and encouraged them to be studious and eager to learn more about the world of broadcasting.
In his closing remarks, the ViceChancellor expressed his hope for future collaborations between the university and the radio station, such as joint community outreach programs, educational partnerships, and career development initiatives for students interested in media and communications. The courtesy visit proved to be a successful interaction between the academic and media communities, offering students a valuable opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and explore career possibilities in the dynamic world of radio broadcasting. Both the university and the radio station left the gathering with a sense of optimism for future collaboration and community engagement.
